It’s not too late to register! Join SURJ Toronto tonight for Part 2 of our Intro to Anti-Racism Series, Healing Resistance. During this time of upheaval with social, ecological, economic and political systems on the brink of collapse, we are presented with an opportunity to shape a new future. Join us for a discussion on how these compounding crises impact our ability to engage in the work of racial healing.

This webinar is led by Kazu Haga, a trainer and practitioner of nonviolence and restorative justice. He works with incarcerated people, youth, and activists from around the country, has over 20 years of experience in nonviolence and social change work, and has been an active trainer since 2000. Kazu is a resident of the Canticle Farm community on Lisjan Ohlone land in Oakland California and is the author of Healing Resistance: A Radically Different Response to Harm.

TORONTO! Join us for a Know Your Rights workshop in collaboration with the Community Justice Collective, Palestinian Youth Movement, and SURJ Toronto tomorrow, February 29 at 6:30 p.m. In the last several months, we’ve seen an increased trend of police violence and suppression at actions for Palestine across the city and the country. From increased police presence and violence, to over 28 arrests in the city, it’s clear that the city of Toronto is using taxpayer money to crackdown on pro-Palestinian organizing and support. We know that we keep each other safe, and the state cannot intimidate us. Knowing our rights is essential in ensuring that all of us feel protected to continue our organizing work to end the Israeli genocide in Gaza, and to liberate Palestine, from the river to the sea.

In-person registrations at capacity but you can still register to attend virtually at the link below.

Text in black font on a white circle over top of the yellow house reads: “Join us for a webinar imagining what Toronto could be like if we invest in systems of care as we divest from systems of harm”. Panelists listed include Desmond Cole, Butterfly GoPaul, Rebeena and moderated by Robyn Maynard. Across the bottom of the graphic in black text reads: WED MARCH 6, 6-8PM. Logos for Resource Movement, Jane & Finch Action Against Poverty and SURJ Toronto.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday March 6 from 6-8 p.m. We will imagine what Toronto would be like if we invest in systems of care and divest from systems that cause institutional harm. The Toronto City Budget has increased funding to the police yet again. The TTC has resumed deploying fare inspectors and special constables. Surveillance is expanding. What are the possibilities for a future that invests in people, our communities and each other? What could Toronto be like if we invest in systems of care?
This conversation is organized by Resource Movement, Jane & Finch Action Against Poverty (JFAAP) and SURJ Toronto. The evening will be moderated by Robyn Maynard and includes Desmond Cole, Butterfly GoPaul, and Rebeena as panelists.
